  • Mary, Mother of Mercy. Christ the Power of Merciful LoveWhere does the title, “Mary, Mother of Mercy,” come from? We have many popular preyras that speak of Mary as Mother of Mercy. For example, “Hail holy Queen, Mother of mercy” … and, later: “turn, then, your eyes of mercy towards us.” In another prayer, the Memorare, we hear: “To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful, O Mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions but in your mercy, hear and answer me.” Moreover, in the lives of the saints, we hear Mary referred to as “Mother of mercy.” Once, St. Maria Faustina Kowalska had a vision of the Blessed Mother. Mary said to Sr. Faustina: “I am not only the Queen of Heaven, but also the Mother of Mercy, and your Mother” (Diary of St. Faustina,330). more

    • Hi Claudia, that is a very good question. Mary is the mother of Jesus and Jesus is Mercy thus making Mary the mother of mercy. Jesus said to Saint Sor Faustina, “Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. All the works of my hands are crowned with mercy.” (Diary 301) Since Mary is the mother of Jesus she is also the mother of mercy because God is merciful and God is Love.

  • This devotion has given me such hope and spiritual strength throughout my walk with Jesus. My wife and I have faithfully made a novena to the Mercy of God for the past 25 years. The highlight of the Divine Mercy devotion has always been the hour of Mercy offered at St. Mary’s on the feast itself. This year we were cut to the very soul with the presence of God and His unfathomable mercy. A sincere thank-you for the amazing ministry that you have taken on. One day; in the not too distant future;, the faithful will flock to churches to honour Our Lord’s mercy. May His spirit be with you always!
